Worcester is the home of the VIDLA Principal and so the Academy has a lot of links to the city’s music and education scene.
This weekend sees the return of the annual Worcester Music Festival, and Ria spent yesterday leading a vocal workshop in the morning, and then leading the Voices Unlimited Contemporary Choir at an open-air concert in the afternoon, performing alongside the great Steve Maitland.
The choir has several VIDLA students in its membership, putting their training to good use, as do VIDLA students all over the world!
The choir sang down on the South Quay, by the fountains and the river, in glorious sunshine. It was hot work! But the very large crowd enjoyed every note of the enthusiastic performance.
The VIDLA headquarters is of course in London, from where our distance-learning courses are delivered worldwide. But watch this space for the launch of VI-Worcester, which will be a sister organisation of the Distance Learning Academy, offering one-to-one training, workshops and residential intensive short courses. We are working on launching this exciting new facility in 2010, and will keep you posted!
