The ‘above & beyond’ ring this year goes to…

Happy New Year everyone!

abov & beyondThose who have been reading our blog for some time will know that every year, we have made a special ring  inscribed with the words “Above & Beyond”, to give to someone who has done more than their job, or who has helped us here at VIDLA in some way.

These rings are much-coveted as they can’t be bought or requested, only earned by… well… going above and beyond. Yes, in VIDLA terms it’s the one ring to rule them all!

204312_211276898884035_5846010_oThis year’s recipient is senior tutor Christine Evans, who has been with us for two years now and is not only a fine teacher but a great supporter of VIDLA and a terrific ambassador for the college. Our students love her calm, considered, thorough and always supportive approach, and we love having her on the team as she’s never anything but a pleasure to work with!

Like all of our teachers, Christine is a busy professional in her own right:

She has a private vocal coaching practise based in Atherstone, Warwickshire, teaching all age groups from beginners to professionals, specialising in pop and soul, as well as coaching in songwriting and arranging. Check out her teaching site:

The talents of this lovely lady also run to having own contemporary choir in her hometown of Atherstone, for which she undertakes all arrangements herself. The choir has been running for 2 years and is going from strength to strength. Not content with this she has also been running a choir for Warwickshire County Council for the past year.

Christine has been in a variety of bands over the years, as well as singing solo and as part of a 1940s duet. She has just started working on a new project as part of a barbershop-style quartet.

And as if that isn’t enough, she’s a qualified pharmacist and still practises part-time – another reason why she’s such a valued member of the team.

Welcome to the Above & Beyond club, Christine!
